Forever Joy - Blogging - Year 6
It was more than six years ago that I set my intention to create a blog. I wanted to better define what a blog was to my then 86 year old, sharp-witted, computer-using father, Fred Bishop. He would read about blogs and blogging in the NY Times, and that blogs were going to change the face of advertising. Having made his career in the field (40+ years with J Walter Thompson) this was of great interest to him despite being two decades post retirement.
Despite having created Forever Joy, Da and I never fully understood blogs or blogging, or how blogging would change the face of advertising. As far as I can tell, it hasn't.
The title of my blog is near and dear: Joy - my pre-adopted name; Victoria - my name beginning at five months old. Having a way to document and share the thoughts that come to me (via the blog) is awesome and humbling. Functionally speaking, I didn't "work it" well.
My first post in 2005 actually had respondents! Only I didn't know it because (1) I assumed that wouldn't happen and so (2) I never checked. Yet another response came - again, missed by me.
So here it is, January 1, 2011, inspiring Forever Joy blogging. Joy is my 50+ year old me. It is my light, my directional, creating my path for these coming decades. A very few, very special people refer to me as Joy or JoyVictoria and I beam.
Fred (Bishop) is best known as the writer of "Built Ford Tough" - Ford's long-standing advertising mantra. In fact, less than 24 hours after Fred died at home in January 2008, the Super Bowl opened with BUILT FORD TOUGH on the big screen in the now empty house. It was a magical moment filled with Forever Joy.
